Prevention Tip of the Week: Know the warning signs

ID-100179234Abuse of prescription painkillers can cause rapid and aggressive mood swings, spurts of excessive energy, spells of depression, exhaustion, irritability or forgetfulness. Slurred speech, listlessness and changes in the level of consciousness are signs of possible overdose and should be treated as an emergent situation.

Recognizing and confronting signs of addiction can be extremely difficult, especially if you’re dealing with friends and family members. Don’t hesitate to reach out for professional help and guidance as soon as you suspect a problem.
