Becoming a father is the single most scariest thought that I have ever had in my life. The thought of being responsible for a child in this world has literally caused me to wonder if I could ever accept the thought of becoming a dad. All of these fears, however, had to be dismissed when the Lord called Amanda and me to adopt.
The weirdest concept for me so far (and after talking with Amanda, her too!) is what I am calling "the parent language." The thought of being called "dad" and "mom" is both incredible but overwhelming. Moreover, the thought that we will have a son or a daughter (and now as we begin the process of adoption, calling our future son or daughter, "son" or "daughter"!) is even more incredible...and overwhelming!
We both know that this is going to be the most exciting journey of our lives. We believe that God has already picked out a child for us, whether he or she is born yet. With all of the confidence in the world we are looking forward to seeing Him do an incredible work in preparing our hearts and our lives to bring home a parentless child, to give him or her a home, and to give him or her all of the love that he or she deserves.
We rest on this because of God's love for us as His sons and daughters!
